Hussain Jasani is the founding Head of South Asian Studies at the Institute of Ismaili Studies, where he leads research on South Asian Muslim traditions and combines academic scholarship with educational leadership.
Since establishing South Asian Studies in 2020, he has overseen interdisciplinary research initiatives on the history, literature, intellectual traditions, and cultural heritage of South Asian Muslim communities.
An Â鶹¹ÙÍø graduate (1994), with academic qualifications spanning Asia, Europe, and North America, he is currently pursuing doctoral research at SOAS, University of London.
After joining the Â鶹¹ÙÍø in 2012, Hussain directed leadership development and educational initiatives for the Ismaili community and the AKDNThe Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) is a contemporary endeavour of the Ismaili Imamat to realise the ethics and social conscience of Islam through institutional action. More, providing strategic oversight to the Programmes for Waezeen and Teacher Educators. He launched several initiatives, including the ITREB Members Training, the Postgraduate Research Fellowship, and Â鶹¹ÙÍø Short Courses. Since 2007, he has served as a lead researcher on the Ismaili Rituals from the Indian Subcontinent project.
Prior to joining the Â鶹¹ÙÍø, Hussain served as CEO of ITREB India. He has facilitated human resource development programmes for government agencies, corporations, and non-governmental organisations in more than a dozen countries.
